Happy Monday everybody! Hopefully the majority of you have the day off from work like I do (one of the perks of working in education). Even though Chris and I both have the day off, relaxation is not on the menu. This coming week is going to be extremely hectic considering the movers are coming to pack up our house, so today will be spent preparing for them to come. I can’t believe the time is so near for us to head on to our next location. Honestly, it feels as though we just moved here to Washington. Well, we’ve only been here about a year and a half, so I guess we did just move here.;) When I think about this upcoming move, it’s extremely bittersweet. I’m so excited about the new adventure, seeing new places, and being much closer to my home state of Georgia, but I am also monumentally sad to leave the community Chris and I have created here. We have beautiful friendships here, and the thought of not seeing them weekly makes my heart hurt. I felt the same way when we left Vermont. For those of you that are a military family, I know you completely understand the struggle I speak of. When you move around as often as military families do, you learn to rely on the community around you for support. We don’t have a single family member anywhere close to us, and so the people we have grown to love here become our family. We have laughed together, cried together, and spent holidays together. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like family to me!
It is also extremely important for us to find a church family as soon as possible when we move into a new area. Does anyone have any church suggestions around the Fort Leonard Wood, MO area? Fortunately, Chris and I have been so very blessed to have found amazing churches in Vermont and Washington. It’s really cool when I reflect on what God has done for us thus far, and how much we have grown in Him. I didn’t come into this marriage knowing that I would be a military wife. My husband’s choice to rejoin came much later in our marriage, so with no experience or ability to prepare for a life like this, I’ve just been learning as I go. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had our bumps in the road, but overall, this life is a blessing unlike any I could have imagined for myself, and I am extremely grateful for it. It is truly by God’s grace and the faith and hope I have in Him that I remain sane in constant uprooting and change. I think that’s why I have no anxiety about this move, because I completely trust in His plan, and that’s a pretty cool place to be.
Man oh man… this post was not supposed to be about our upcoming move, and my “oh, woe is me” feelings towards leaving loved ones again. It was supposed to be focused on this look, I promise! 🙂 But, overtime, I come to the end of a chapter in my life, and I get sentimental. That’s normal, right? Sometimes things naturally turn into something completely different. With this post, I just started typing, and well, this is what came out.
This look is actually another example of one thing turning into another. As a result of the snow on the day I planned to shoot this, my original shoe pairing had to be changed. As you can tell from the pics, my Hunter boots were a much more practical choice. Originally, I had paired my Nike Huaraches with this look. They gave the look a cool athleisure vibe, which I preferred over the rain boots, but sometimes you have to roll with what nature is giving you. On a positive note, the snow, braid, faux fur vest combo definitely made me feel like an ice princess, or better yet, a character from Game of Thrones!
I hope you enjoy, and for those of us still having to deal with cold temps, fell inspired to try a look like this!
Side note: to my family and friends back home in Georgia posting all those, “it feels like spring right now” pics…not cool. 😉
Have a great day!
Sweater. Vest (my color is sold out, but also love it in this color). Pants (My style sold out, but love this style as well). Boots. Earrings (similar here). Lips.
