Spring and Summer 2020
I love warm weather, and I definitely love warm weather clothes! There’s an easiness that comes with dressing for the warmer months, but ease doesn’t have to mean looking sloppy and lazy. In this post, I’m sharing 5 fashion trends that I’m stocking up on this spring and summer in order to keep my summer style elevated. Keep reading to find out what those are!
Let’s Elevate Our Wardrobes People!
SQUARE TOE SANDALS
I love a simple sandal in the spring and summer. I say “set thy toes free!!” Each season, a particular sandal silhouette makes it way into fashion girls’ hearts across the globe, and this season its a sandal with a square toe. This style gives us all the 90’s nostalgia, which is partly why I love it so much. I definitely remember this during that decade. 😉 To really master the trend, look for styles with simple straps. Considering the toe of the shoe is very harsh, keeping the rest of it delicate keeps the look elevated.
BERMUDA SHORTS
I am so excited this length has made its way into the top trend list. It’s such breath of fresh air as opposed to its counterpart, the short short. When you are of a certain age, wearing super short shorts begins to lose its appeal. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good denim cutoff (as long as my rear isn’t hanging out), but this short length has a level of sophistication that isn’t found in other lengths. Wear these with a strappy heel for an elevated look. I especially love them with square toe, kitten heel sandals.
YELLOW
Wearing yellow is like walking around as a ray of sunshine. It’s a color that brings joy and peace, and who doesn’t want more joy and peace in their lives?!?! I have fully embraced this cheery hue, and as I was taking inventory of what I have and what I need in my wardrobe, I quickly realized I only have a couple of yellow pieces hanging in my closet. This is a problem that I fully intend to remedy. 🙂 My personal favorite is the yellow blazer and matching pants I linked in the collage from H&M, but obviously this happy color has made its way into every style on the market!
CHUNKY GOLD JEWELRY
I’m of the “MORE IS MORE” school of thought. Well, at least when it comes to my jewelry. I pile it on: multiple earrings, rings, and necklaces. I’m especially crazy about stacking lots of gold chains around my neck. There are tones of options out there in regards to style and price point. I literally wear mine everyday, so I like to look for pieces that don’t tarnish, but if you want to ease into the look, opting for inexpensive pieces are a good way to go. The necklaces I wear daily are from Kenda Kist and Jenny Bird, but as you can see from this collage, great options can be found in countless places.
LINEN EVERYTHING
Nothing screams “summer is here” like linen fabric! This easy, breezy fabric is packed full of sophistication. Denim cutoffs are taken up a notch with a pretty linen blouse, linen wide-leg trousers make a simple cami look extra chic, and a linen dress in a feminine silhouette is the perfect vacation companion. I love looking for linen pieces in neutral tones like ivory, wheat, or even olive green for a hint of safari chic.
