Hi friends! I’m so excited to bring you this blog post today mainly because I never thought I would be writing about this topic. It’s all about a teeth whitening kit I recently tried, but before we get into the company or my whitening process, I think it’s important to explain the root of my excitement and why I said I would never write about it.
There are many teeth whitening services, kits, strips, gels, etc, in the market today, and I have heard good and not so good things about some of these methods. The one that really sticks out in my head is the possibility for heightened sensitivity. I have always had EXTREMELY sensitive teeth. I mean, to the point that just the act of inhaling and exhaling would cause my teeth to hurt. I drink most things through a straw, and forget about adding ice to anything! That is the ultimate pain inducer! So regardless of how much I wanted, or needed, to whiten my teeth, I have ventured far from any opportunity because I couldn’t even imagine my teeth being even more sensitive than they already are. I also know I’m not the only person that deals with this. There’s a huge percentage of the population that suffers from teeth sensitivity.
So, fast forward to now, with a conclusion set in my brain that teeth whitening would never be in the cards for me, I was presented with an opportunity to work with St. Louis based company Smile Brilliant. They wanted ME to try their teeth whitening system! ME! The person that dreads cold, windy air for fear of it hitting my teeth! The person that can’t even stand the sound of others crunching ice because I’m automatically reminded of the gut wrenching feeling it gives me when ice hits my teeth! I remember laughing out loud because I automatically thought NO WAY! I hit respond and almost typed “though I greatly appreciate your offer, I must regretfully decline,” but for some reason I didn’t. Maybe, just maybe, deep down, I really did want some sort of miracle product that gave me a whiter smile without the painful results that typically follows it. Pretty far fetched, but, with a spark of hope in my mind, my response went a little more like this, “I am very much interested in trying your product, but here are my concerns…” I was completely transparent with my fears about whitening because, like I mentioned before, I have RIDICULOUSLY sensitive teeth.
I was then informed about another product that compliments the whitening gel… drum roll please…
This isn’t just any gel, it not only diminishes tooth sensitivity, but it also replenishes minerals in the teeth and helps to prevent new surface stains from appearing. They are the only whitening company I have heard of that really tries to combat this problem. I know, it sounds like a unicorn in a sea of donkeys, but I put my fears and hesitations aside, and after multiple conversations with the company and checking out their stellar reviews, I decided to go for it! Whiter teeth, here I come! (I hope :/ )

First, take a look at a couple of before pics!
Let’s talk process…
First things first. When the teeth whitening kit arrived, which included trays to create my molds, the catalyst paste and base paste (the pastes are for creating the molds of your teeth), multiple teeth whitening gels, and multiple desensitizing gels, my initial step was to get my molds ready. Super easy to to do; just follow the step by step instructions. Once I had those done, I dropped them in the mail and anxiously awaited my custom-fit trays that I would use to apply both the desensitizing and whitening gels (not at the same time of course).
Once my custom fitted whitening trays arrived in the mail, I could officially begin my teeth whitening journey. You can use the whitening gel everyday, but I found it best to whiten every other day in an effort to help my sensitivity. Obviously, you do what works best for you. Before every whitening period, I used the desensitizing gel first. Well, I actually did whiten a couple of times without using the desensitizing gel prior, mainly just to see if it really did make a difference. Though I wasn’t bent over in shear agony, I did notice that whitening without the desensitizing gel was more uncomfortable for me because of my sensitivity issues. I know it sounds stupid to even put myself through that, but I wanted to be able to compare with and without. You bet I used it every other time after! I firmly believe that the desensitizing gel was the ONLY reason I was able to get through this whitening process. Like I said, a unicorn in a sea of donkeys, only this unicorn is real!

I used the gels over the course of about 11 whitening periods. Each period consisting of around 20 minutes for the desensitizing gel, followed by about an hour of the whitening. I definitely couldn’t just sit around and do nothing while I whitened. I found it super easy to multitask while the trays were in, which I’m sure most of you appreciate because we all have crazy, busy lives. Making the most of our time is important.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my results and would definitely recommend this system to anyone that is looking for a great whitening option, especially if you suffer from sensitivity. It’s also super cost effective! Comparable whitening systems can run $300 or more! I encourage you to check out their site not only to learn more about their products, but they also have great information about whitening in general with whitening facts, frequently asked questions about teeth whitening, and teeth whitening articles.
Let’s see the AFTER!
I noticed the biggest difference in the side teeth that I mentioned I was the most self conscious about. LOVE THAT!
