The backdrop of this shoot is the gorgeous Jekyll Island Club Resort. This was the summer playground for families like the Rockefeller’s, Goodyear’s, Pulitzer’s, and Crane’s during the gilded age. I highly recommend this place a a vacay destination if you’ve never been. Tons of cool history, not to mention it’s gorgeous!
(*Fun fact: the bolo tie shown in these pics has been with me since I was a little girl. I used to be obsessed with cowboys, horses, etc, so I definitely channeled my inner cowgirl on multiple occasions.)
Good morning! It has been the longest minute since I’ve posted to my blog. In all honesty, I have been feeling a little disheartened by this whole thing, and evaluating want I even want to do with it. I’m still a work in progress, but I’ve decided to keep pushing forward as my creativity begins to emerge from its slumber. I hate when I feel as if my creative juices seem to have dried up! Might as well stick a pencil in my eye, as that would seem more bearable! I know it’s dramatic, but…
On a brighter, much lighter note, how about this dream of a dress?! I found this little Free People gem at a local boutique called Bevello here in Raleigh. It’s sold out there, but I did find it here in the black color combo, which is equally as beautiful. I tend to be a bit modest, and the neckline is pretty low, so I added a white tee in order to not feel overexposed. I also love how the tee gives the look a bit more interest. Anytime I have the opportunity to layer, I’m going to take it! Topped this sucker off with some fun accessories to help it transition into fall, like OTK boots, a wide brim hat, and a bolo tie.
Other ways to transition that summer dress into fall…
Layer a fitted turtleneck underneath…
Layer a leather or denim jacket over…
Add sneakers or a type of bootie, like s combat or chelsea style…
