Good morning y’all! Does anyone have a short work week this week because of the holiday weekend?! If you’re a service member, hopefully you have a four day weekend ahead of you. My hubby does! Woohoo! Memorial Day weekend seems like the official start of summer, right?! Warm temps, grilling out, boats rides on the lake… I love it! While I’m sure many of you (including myself) have fun activities planned, let’s not forget what Memorial Day means. It’s all about honoring those that have lost their lives protecting our freedom. Honestly, that kind of sacrifice deserves more than just a day of remembrance. So, while you are flipping that burger or riding that Jet Ski, take a moment (or two) to remember what a beautiful thing it is to be an American, and say a quiet thank you to those that aren’t around to do that so that we are able to.
Now, because we are honoring those that have fallen, I always feel the need to wear red, white, and blue on this holiday. Anyone else? There’s a sense of patriotism that comes out during this time, so what better combo to wear than the colors of our nation’s flag. This red, white, and blue look is super simple to recreate! Off-the-shoulder (OTS) tops are not going anywhere yet, and this one in particular speaks to my soul with the red and white stripes. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I LOVE stripes! Okay, maybe the word obsessed is more appropriate. When it comes to style signatures, stripes are at the top of the heap. Oh, and did I forget to mention that this top is also on SALE for under $20!!! So, you need to head to your nearest JCrew Factory and snatch one up because with the price so low, they won’t last long!
This denim mini is another summer time staple in my closet. It looks good with literally everything! Denim skirts are having a moment, so if you don’t have one, I suggest adding one to your wardrobe. The great part about it is you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get one. Mine is from H&M, and it was extremely inexpensive.
Lastly, I topped off the look with some white sneakers (another staple of mine) and a neckerchief in a blue and white gingham pattern to compliment the red and white stripe. The scarf is actually a pocket square from the men’s department. If you never venture outside you usual clothing departments give it a shot. I always find cool stuff in the men’s section. 😉
Keep on scrolling for more of this look! I hope you feel inspired to create your own patriotic ensemble!
