Hey y’all! I hope everyone’s Fourth of July was relaxing and filled with time with family and friends. Mine definitely was! Yes, I realize that it has been a while (over a month) since my last post. I have been a busy little bee, but Bourbon Blonde is back in action!!! She also has a new look. Thank you to my very talented friend, Chris, for working with me to make BB soooo much better. This whole blog business is a learning experience, and I am sure this isn’t the last time I tweak the site, but I already feel it is better than before. I love that it is more user friendly and, frankly, it just looks way cooler! Just as with anything thing else, once you immerse yourself, you find out what works for you and what doesn’t. This is no exception.
I also thought what better way to kick back into action than with my first travel inspired post. I recently visited St. Simon’s Island off the coast of my home state, Georgia. I have been there before, but it has been almost a decade, so needless to say I had forgotten how dreamy and charming this little Georgia jewel really is. The picture above shows the actual stairs and mat leading up to the front door of the house we rented. Too stinkin’ cute!
The island is full of huge mature oak trees, which are covered in Spanish moss dangling off the limbs. Walking among them was one of my favorite things to do because they seem to exude a magical, ethereal quality. Perfect for wandering minds…

Lush greenery and rusted details in a local cemetery.
Hydrangeas and the south go hand in hand.

My cover-up is just an oversize, lightweight scarf that I tied around me. Modest, yet still cute!
We stayed in a charming neighborhood consisting of just one quaint, little street, and the homes were so whimsical and colorful. Pinks, blues, whites, grays, and greens galore!

My sweet pom, Pearl, enjoying the beach.
Remains of Fort Frederica. Protecting Georgia from the Spaniards living in Florida in 1742 at the Battle of Bloody Marsh.

Yes, those are fairy wings in the background.
The downtown area of St. Simons is filled with quaint stores such as this hardware store. Walking in felt like stepping back in time. Dreamy!
Breakfast at Palmer’s Village Cafe in downtown St. Simons. Possibly the best french toast I have ever had! Get in my belly!!!
